SAFETY FIRST

During construction and street maintenance season in Bend, you can plan your best route around road closures and detours if you sign up for the Weekly Road and Traffic Report at www.bendoregon.gov/enews. An interactive map is available at bendoregon.gov/traffic. The same data is also made available to popular navigation apps. The traffic impacts map and weekly report provide information about various projects within City limits that impact the roadways. Working together, we can help keep traffic flowing safely during construction season.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES – Week of March 20

Neff and Purcell Intersection

Temporary Pedestrian Detour protection is in place. This means that pedestrians can safely navigate through the designated pedestrian routes, which provide clear paths, as multiple franchise utility relocations are currently underway. Be aware that temporary pedestrian access routes will change as needed with different phases of construction.

Franchise utility relocation work is ongoing and progressing as planned. The relocation work is necessary to prepare for the upcoming intersection improvements. As the work continues, the intersection closure will remain in place and there may be additional temporary traffic impacts near the closure, such as flagging or lane shifts. However, we will continue to do our best to minimize disruptions to traffic and nearby properties.

Purcell Extension

Excavation and rock hammering will continue in the vicinity of the Purcell Extension. This work is necessary to prepare the site for the installation of new infrastructure. In addition to the excavation work, stormwater, water and sanitary sewer infrastructure improvements are beginning.

Relocation of underground utilities continues in coordination with franchise utility companies, like gas, power and internet providers. To ensure efficient and timely completion, multiple agencies are working in coordination. During this process, there will be overlapping start and completion cycles within each workday.
